Academic Ventures was founded by Dominic Bonacci in 2005. Today, he serves as CEO and is joined by COO Ann M. Gynn, who he first met 20 years ago while working in the special events industry.
As an Academic Ventures' client, you work directly with them and they draw on a full team of resources. That means cost-effective, personalized service that fits your budget and your organization's needs.
Dominic spent more than a decade as the chief operating officer for C.K. Newcomb & Associates, a special events management and marketing firm, which includes the Cleveland National Air Show among its clients. In his role, he oversaw budgeting, performer and exhibitor lodging and transportation and customer service, and navigated government regulations and requirements.
Dominic, who earned his MBA at Cleveland State University, also worked in ticketing and finance at C.K. Newcomb, and early in his career, worked in front-office theater management. He founded Academic Ventures to use his experience to help others produce top quality, budget-conscious events. The Cleveland National Air Show was his first client and Dominic continues to coordinate all facility logistics for the annual event.
Ann started her special events career while in high school and college, handling customer service and office management for C.K. Newcomb & Associates. She spent seven years as a newspaper editor and reporter before returning to special events and marketing communications.
Ann, who has a master's degree in communication, has served as adjunct faculty at Lakeland Community College and Cleveland State University. Since 2003, Ann has coordinated media relations and promotions for the Cleveland National Air Show. Her background enables Ann to understand each client's unique needs and preferred methods of delivery and communication. She knows how to ask the tough questions of vendors and is eager to make sure Academic Ventures' clients get the best possible from all involved.
